Cookies: Learn 100 New English Words and Make Americans Love You

the best way to learn a language and
become fluent is by immersing yourself
in that language everybody knows that
the problem is that not everybody has
this opportunity going to a new country
is complicated and expensive that is why
I created this channel to give you the
experience of living and learning
English right here in the USA
but for free and from the comfort of
your own home since this is the first
episode in a brand new series I thought
we should start by talking about
something super important introducing
yourself present perfect tense basic
sentence structure how to make chocolate
chip cookies you think I’m joking but
I’m dead serious when I made my super
secret cookie recipe in Brazil a couple
of things happened one I learned a ton
of new words in the kitchen and two
everybody loved me so if you want to
make a good impression on your American
friends or anyone and you want to learn
a bunch of new words

okay I know you guys are dying to eat
these delicious cookies I mean look at
that but before we dive in let’s do the
responsible thing and check out this a
recipe so up here we can see the
ingredients and down here we have the
directions first let’s take a look at
which ingredients we need butter sugar
brown sugar eggs vanilla extract baking
soda salt flour chocolate chips welcome
so most of those ingredients we can find
in the cabinets or in the pantry but the
butter in the eggs will find in the
fridge freezer fridge

so the recipe calls for soft butter so I
recommend you take out the fridge about
two hours before you start baking

all right now that we have all our
ingredients let’s take another look at
those directions so it looks like the
first thing we need to do is preheat the
oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit yes in us
we use a different system of measurement
for pretty much everything does it make
a lot of sense
no is it inconvenient yes is it a
problem not in 2019 it’s now hey Siri
how much is this that would be one
hundred seventy six point seven degrees
Celsius there you go so we just come
over to our oven turn it on now that the
oven is heating up let’s see what else
we need we’re gonna need a mixing bowl
in a large spoon all right we also need
measuring cups and measuring spoons all
right family I think we got everything
we need to make these cookies so let’s
go so step one combine butter sugar and
brown sugar in the bowl stir until
smooth so anyway the butter we need 1
cup of butter
here in the US it’s pretty simple
because in baking we often use sticks of
butter that are pre-measured so one
stick half a cup two sticks is one cup
you do the math well actually I just did
the math for you you’re welcome
anyway two sticks of butter in the bowl
now for the sugar so it’s one cup of
each all right sweet
and now you stir until it’s nice and
smooth alright now that it’s nice and
smooth anyway so anyway step two add two
eggs to the mix and once again stir
until smooth
so we have to crack the eggs so check

all right yoke into the mix she’ll trash
and of course we stir all right
step three is two teaspoons of vanilla
extract so for small measurements we use
spoons the big one is tablespoons small
one teaspoons just pay attention to
which one you use
so one and two all right and of course
that’s right you stir alright next step
now we’re getting a little crazy we need
to do a teaspoon of baking soda and
dissolve it in two teaspoons of hot
water so we need to heat up some water
now in most kitchens would be super easy
barely an inconvenience because most
people have microwaves so you just pop
in the water press the button and you’re
good but you know what hey I’m simple it
ka humble you can’t pour so I don’t have
a microwave but I do have a stove so I
just grab a pot
come over to the sink fill it up with
some agua then we come over here pop on
the stove turn it on we wait for it to
heat up
alright water is ready hot water now one
teaspoon of baking soda dump stir and
dump master
alright step number five put this whole
box of salt spread I’m just kidding just
half a teaspoon family into the mix and
do I even need to say it you stir
alright guys
second to last step we are almost ready
to enjoy these delicious cookies now we
just need to add three cups of flour

all right when that’s done you mix it up
again all right guys we made it the last
step is to add the most important the
most precious delicious ingredients
chocolate chips and for the last time we
stir it up guys

so guys congratulations you have cookie
dough yeah it’s already delicious so go
ahead and try it it’s good and good for
you yep perfectly safe and delicious all
right we are about ready to put these in
the oven so just grab yourself a baking
sheet and then you want to just form the
dough into small little balls go ahead
and just dig in with your hands it’s all
right

your little cookie balls we’re ready to
put these guys in about ten minutes
should be ready all right guys so it’s
been 10 minutes so those cookies should
be ready so just open up this drawer get
out my oven in my oven mitt

that means they’re perfect so now just
let those cool down for about five
minutes and then enjoy so that’s it guys
