CHOCOLATE CHIP HEATH COOKIES

Welcome to my first video! I wanted to kick things off with my favourite cookies.. more specifically my moms chocolate chip heath cookies…. or skor for my fellow Canadians.

These cookies are my lifeline. The recipe has been in my family for generations and has a very special place in my heart!…and stomach. I hope you love them as much as I do.

RECIPE:

1 cup butter, unsalted, room temperature
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar, hard packed
2 eggs, room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups flour
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups chocolate chips, semi sweet
1 cup heath bits……or skor bits

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Preheat your oven to 375°f
2. In a large bowl cream the butter at medium speed until fluffy.
3. Add the sugars and beat until smooth, scraping down the sides part way.
4. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract. Scrape down sides of bowl.
5. Add the baking powder, baking soda and salt, then turn on your mixer and gradually add flour.
6. Mix until just blended. Do not over mix.
7. With a spatula hand fold in chocolate chips and heath bits. When combined add the oats. Mix until combined.
8. Hand scoop spoon size balls of cookie dough onto a baking sheet. Do not roll the balls, leave them in a semi rough shape.
9. Spread the balls a few inches apart so they don’t connect when they spread while cooking.
10. Bake cookies for approximately 12-14 minutes. Be sure to keep your eyes on the cookies as they bake, because cooking times vary depending on your oven.
11. Remove the cookies when they reach a light golden brown colour and let cool on the tray for 5 minutes.
12. Remove and place on a wire cooling rack.
13. Repeat process until you have used all of your dough.
14. Enjoy!

ps. these cookies are phenomenal fresh out of the oven, room temp or frozen! I always leave a couple out to eat when they are fresh and put the majority in a freezer bag and enjoy them later frozen or microwaved with a scoop of ice cream! YUM!

guys so Ireally hope you like it but I’ve got foryou today is my mom’s chocolate chips orcookies but since I’m in the Statesright now the score does not exist hereso we’ve got is he so what Keith baysare little pieces of a heath bar so it’slike an English toffee the exact samescore bar essentially which is very goodso I’ve grown up on these cookies theyare my favorite cookies in the world sowhat these cookies are is that they havea base of a regular chocolate chipcookie but we’ve also got oats and thebase more score where we’re going tostart is we put in our butter I’ve runit two days so it gets to roomtemperature a little quicker that’s justalways forgot to leave out the butter soI’m going to put the butter unsaltedinto the mixer we’re gonna use a paddlebecause I just like a paddleno formal training everything I know islearned from family YouTube or just likethe Internetso here we are pretty much winging itbut we’re gonna cream the butter on likemedium speed just until it looks fluffyand creative yeah no formal training Ihave no idea what I’m doingI dunno so we’re gonna cream the butteron like movie tiem speed so what we’regonna do is we add the sugar into thebutter white sugar one cup here is thelight brown sugar one cup I packed sohard-packed is when you pull up all ofthe brown sugar into the measuring cupand you mush it all down just so it’sall kind of like so you don’t just scoopit and light you mush it all down justso it gets like as much as it can[Applause]so you’re gonna want to wipe down thesides of the bowl a couple of times justto make sure that everything is evenlymixed nothing’s going left becausethere’s definitely going to be somebutter on the sides that haven’t beenincorporated with these yogurt so intospirit down the sides of the bowl andyou’re just gonna put it back on itmixed up for a little bit all right sonow that everything has been evenlyincorporated and the butter sugars allyou are going to add your two eggs[Music]scrape partway cash just so everythingis evenly mixedalright so that’s all evenly mixedyou’re gonna start adding your saltbaking powder making sure all our sowe’ve got a teaspoon of baking soda ateaspoon of baking powder half ateaspoon of saltso moving on the flour I respect thesong because I always make a mess[Music][Music]all right give it another screen somedium speed so then once that’s allmixed we take it off of the Kitchen Aidand we’re gonna hand hold and oats thechocolate chips add to the fupas there’stwo cups of chocolate chips be one cupof heat bets or score for my comedians Ilike that will do this heat into thechocolate chips first before I do it’sbecause you know what that is likecrumble and kind of like go into a blushin the batter also we always make it alot harder to mix if it dries it outmore so here goes our two cups of oatsso now that the dough is ready we’regonna take a little sheet and we aregoing to pick up little balls not rollthat it’s a little better personallywhen they’re covered just like a littlerock shaped like this pop it down with acookie J let’s just back it reallydoesn’t matter how big or how small theyareit’s kind of just whatever you want Ilike to spread them out quite a bitbecause I am queen of putting them tooclose and getting like one massivecookie so you have to be prepared butyou’re gonna get a little bit messy buttrust me it’s worth it so here I’ve donesix little cookie balls at home I have abigger tray so I usually do three tothree not a risk at this time so we’reputting him in with six I’ve preheatedmy oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit theseare gonna go in for 14 minutes foryou’re gonna want to keep checking onthem because it depends on your honorso after baking for 12 minutesAaron ace golden color so we’re justgonna let that cookies hard enough tocool off a little bag on the cookiesheet here before we move them over tothe wire cooling rack and in themeantime there’s nothing securenow that they’ve cooled we’re gonna moveover to the cooling rack since they havethe heat bits in that they might get alittle bit sticky to the bottom a panyou can use parchment paper when bakingI don’t really like it but it’s up toyou it makes cleanup easierthis is why it’s good to wait you canjust pickbattery over so then you just repeat thewhole process over and over again untila better time easy so because of theheat fit it makes the cookies super lifecaramely crunchy and like museum whilestill having a nice crunch to them I’mmore into like a crispy cookie than asoft cookie but that’s totally up to youit depends how long
