[Music]greetings my beautiful lovelies its Emmywelcome back today I’m gonna be making arecipe or an experiment I should have alab coat today where’s my lab coat justa minute all right that’s better sotoday I’m gonna be performing a littleexperiment that was suggested to me bylovely Hamza Chima and this experimentinvolves Ben and Jerry’s cookie doughice cream the experiment is quite asimple one but absolutely ingenious whathappens if you take the cookie dough outof this ice cream and bake it will itmake cookies and if so what will theytaste like simple right absolutelygenius oh so based on my experiments andrecipes making homemade edible cookiedough I’ll put the link down below incase you missed that video I think thisshould work out fine but I’m gonna takethis one step further so after I’veseparated the ice cream base from thecookie dough I’m gonna return the icecream base and see if I can get icecream again and then make an ice creamsandwich so I’m essentially going todeconstruct this ice cream andreconstruct it into something that itwas like but a little bit differentsounds fun right already so let’s goahead and do this so with any recipethat I tackle I like to do a little bitof research and discovered way back in2014 there was an article in TheHuffington Post where someone did thisvery deed of separating the cookie doughfrom the ice cream and then baking thecookie dough with positive results butthe article did not go into much ofdepth on the taste and the texture ofthe cookie so that’s what I’m here to doin that bit they talked about separatingthe ice cream base from the cookie doughby melting the ice cream base my fearabout microwaving this is that I’llactually melt the cookie dough itselfand that it could get incorporated intothe cookie baseso what I did was I got two pints of BenJerry’s ice cream and I place them inthe refrigerator overnight to allow theice cream to kind of melt on its own yetstay cool because I’m going to returnthis to make ice cream so I want thebase to be cool so that’s what I’ve gothereso looks like it’s pretty melted and thecuido balls are at the bottom okay so itlooks like they’re balls of cookie doughand bits of chip what I want to do ispreserve the balls of cookie doughbecause I just want to bake them as theyare and I think I’m gonna combine a fewof them so that the cookies are a littlebit larger but I do want to bake sometiny ones because I just think that’s sofunny and now we’re just gonna pour thisthrough so when I’ve done that I can seeabout how much in terms of volume ofcookie dough within there and it’s abouta third of this and that works out to bemaybe about a half cup of cookie doughso pour that through whoa not even maybea quarter cup but the dough looks to bepretty uniform in size and let’s do oursecond container and now I’m going toturn this to remake the ice cream so I’mgonna be using this machine and this ismy great thrift store find it’s aCuisinart frozen yogurt ice cream andsorbet maker I found this at the thriftstore if you’ve missed my stretchy icecream video which I used to this machineto make it looser actually you shoulddefinitely check that out so all kindsof great finds at the thirst run rightso I think I paid six dollars for thiswonderful I’ve got my frozen core hereI’m gonna place that right here I’mgoing to put this all together[Laughter]and while it’s churning let’s go aheadand bake the cookie dough so here arethe cookie dough pieces I rinse them offin the sink to remove more of the icecream base and now I’m going to kind ofPat these dry now that we can actuallysee the cookie dough pieces it lookslike they are of different sizes theyhave large pieces here and then littlesmaller ones so I think what I’m goingto do is combine the smaller one istogether to make a larger ball of cookiedough these are going to be the tiniestchocolate chip cookies I’ve ever madeokay so here’s my little army of cookiedough balls and what I have left are thesmall ones form this into a ball and I’mgoing to separate this into twonow we’re going to pop this into apreheated 350 degree oven and bake thesefor I don’t know three or four minutesbecause they’re so tiny or until they’rekind of golden on the edges and ready toeatokay here we go[Music][Music]so I’m going to turn my noisy ice creammaker off and it has churned beautifullythis is working famously so excitedabout this and now I want this to firmup a little bit firmer so I’m going totransfer it to this baking pan and putit in the freezer so it’s a little bitmore scoopable you can see that indeedit’s back to being ice cream put fathere and now into the freezer okay Ialmost forgot about my cookies thekitchen is smelling like homemadechocolate chip cookies it smells alovely now I really don’t want these toburn so I’m gonna go put my attentionback at the oven and see how my cookiesare doing right let’s like this cameraover Wowyep be new looking good looking goodlet’s say one more minute or so just toshow this heart sings in gold and colorthereexperiments start to work out I do I doI dookay now don’t get too carried away Iwill taste ice cream delicious thiswould be a good time to do some cleaningno eating in the laboratory whoopsour cookies are done so they were inthere for about seven to eight minutesand they look pretty stinking cute andthey look like cookies I’m so excited soindeed well I haven’t tasted them but atleast from this appearance they looklike they worked so we’re gonna letthese cool for a bit and let the icecream set up before we make our icecream sandwiches and give thisdelectable experiment a taste okay seein a little bit so I just had kind offunny thought while I was waiting for mycookies to cool what if you just tookyou know our ice cream base that we’vebeen letting sit up in the freezer andplace it back into the Ben & Jerry’scontainer that says chocolate chipcookie dough but now it has no cookiedough and why not this is kind of funnyJake you know if you have somebody thatis a big cookie dough fan and they’rejust scooping up the ice cream go backto the store oh excuse meI bought this ice cream and it containsno cookie dough there you go none thewiser so I’m gonna place this back inthe freezer I want it to be nice andshallow so it’ll set up faster than justlike this okay back don’t eithermeanwhile I’m going to expedite thecooling process by lifting off thecookies and placing them on to the rackwow that was fast and based on the soundof it pretty crispand what these cookies to be nice andcool before I add the ice cream actuallyI’m going to eat one warm because whodoesn’t love a warm chocolate chipcookie chocolate chip cookies are myfavorite cookie by the way if you’relooking for an Emmy fact there’s youranswerunderneath they’re nice and golden burntthey remind me of the cookies that werein Cookie Crisp cereal do they stillmake that cereal heat the rocky Moss avery crisp cookie very crisp hmm but achocolate chip cookie nonetheless a verysweet crunchy chocolate chip cookie Idon’t taste too much butter but I dotaste dark chocolate which I love in achocolate chip cookie the texture isvery firm it’s kind of similar to aTate’s chocolate chip cookie which arepopular here on the East Coast but thatone is a little bit more of a lightercrunch and has a really strong butteryflavorand while these tastes pretty goodthey’re not nearly as buttery but thetexture is really different for achocolate chip cookie listen and a lotof respects reminiscent of Cookie Crispcereal in that way that cereal as Iremember had a little bit of a cornyflavor I think and of course was lighterin texture because it was a cereal alittle bit more like Captain Crunchcrunchy yet airy and light but sweetmm-hmm a very passable cookie I meanwould it be something worth doingabsolutely not why would you want putyour ice cream in the frigerator foreight hours allow it to melt to separateit and then to wipe them off than tobake them just to get these cookiesunless you’re like me and wearing yourhusband’s shirt as a lab coat becauseyou are a scientist so the cookies arejust fine are they’re the most deliciouscookies I’ve ever had no not by anymeans are they pretty good for what theyareabsolutely totally bakeable totally comeout as cookies just a little bit firmerthey’re not puffed up which makes senseI don’t know if there are any eggs inthis and if so they’re probablypasteurized and by the looks of them itdoesn’t seem like they have anyleavening no baking powder no bakingsoda there’s no need to because this iscookie dough after all there’s nointention of actually baking these for afluffy kind of cookie the crisp textureis a little bit odd but I think thatwill be perfect when I put some icecream inside them and make a little icecream sandwich I’m using this tiny tinyspoon talk about portion control this isgenius okay so maybe I’ll do this withactual cookie dough that I make ratherthan taking apart cookie dough ice creamit’s thinking cute it’s so tiny I loveit I love it I love it I love itand I didn’t have to reshape theselittle balls of dough these are theoriginal balls of dough that are in theice cream itself I just bake them up andthey make the perfect 1 inch size littleice cream sandwich okay I’m gonna justpop this in the mouth just as one herewe go Etha ducky Moss an absolutelyreinvented way to eatBen and Jerry’s chocolate chip cookiedough ice cream delightful you heard thebig big crunch which is a great texturalcontrast to the cold fluffy freshlychurned ice cream the ice cream base isessentially a vanilla ice cream base Idon’t really taste any of the chocolatechips or the cookie dough in there atall but since it’s freshly churned ithas much more of the texture ofsoft-serve ice cream which is more Airybut imagine once this sits in therefrigerator for several hours it willharden up very much like it wasoriginally super super fun andridiculous but there you have itchocolate chip cookies that were madefrom the chocolate chip cookie doughfound in Ben and Jerry’s chocolate chipcookie dough ice cream it indeed worksand they are actually pretty tasty andthen I went ahead and returned the icecream base so we have ice cream yetagain so deconstructed reconstructedchocolate chip cookie dough ice creamyeah yeah yeah I love it when a plancomes
