Hi friends! I’m Jennifer, a forty-something wife and mother of 7 children ages 6 – 22. We are Catholic. We homeschool. We cook from scratch. We farm cranberries. We drink coffee. We advocate for Down syndrome awareness. We are loud. We are chaotic.

Here I’ll share vlogs about all these things, what I’m doing that works and what I’ve tried but didn’t work. I hope to encourage you in your journey through motherhood, homeschooling, learning to cook, and growing in your faith through it all.

harvest time oh hecan’t find his gloves you know what Joeit’s actually it feels like it’s warmingup just shut the door and come on honeycome on sweetie come on it’s okayactually the Sun is peeking out and itisn’t that windy today and although myeyes are watering I’ll give you mygloves if your hands are cold okayokay so we’re gonna just walk on downhere and there are a few things thatpeople have asked questions about as faras like cranberries growing in water andthings like that so I’m gonna see if wehave a bed that has been drained so Ican give you guys a little look at whatthe cranberry vines look like andeverything so let’s get moving here’s agood look and these are what we justreferred to as the swimming hole bedsbecause years ago they used to actuallyI guess the wind that’s smart Joe putyour hands in your pockets something’salready been harvested so this here iswhat the cranberry beds look like mostof the year you can see they’re justgreenthere’s no pipe out in them that’s up onthe side but normally the pipe is outbut then there is normally just somewater in the ditches but otherwise thisis all just you know it’s just sand andsome shale rock underneath and then allthe[Music]in the last I don’t know Romans hours Itold Joe it’s not that we need butactually would buy the housethe weather was really tough but thecrop is very goodI guess you just take a day-by-dayand just the market improve yeah exactlythe color out there looks really goodnow the colors been great[Music][Applause][Music][Applause][Music][Applause][Music][Music]I sure like that Blackpoolgo on which one is that is that createbarrier say cranberry or stuff it’sawesome[Music]it’s more lightweight because that’sideal while it’s lightweight what thematernal in major out of it so superstrongwhereas wellWow the Sun is peeking out finallyyeahso the boys are all do you guys have abet on exactly what time you’re gonnaget done no you doing that this yearso the boys are just going along herelooking for any leaf trash or whateverno which is pretty much yeah just alittle of the edge they’re throwing itin the trailer and then they go and runthat off into the woods into a great bigpile alrighty so we are back in thehouse no and we I wanted to stay tillthe very last Barry got loaded but Ijust got an extreme allergy attackthat’s why I’m not on camera right nowmy eyes are completely puffy I don’tknow what was going on but anyway I camehome I had to take my oh my allergy medsso we’re doing that or I did that andnow Maria is here she’s gonna help memake some cookieswe are gonna make some cookies calledhomesteaders they’re very very easybasic ingredients so far in here I havetwo very very soft sticks of butter soyou don’t want it melted but you wantvery very soft I have one cup one packedcup of brown sugar and one eggso Maria is gonna put on the paddle doyou know how to put that paddle on therehoney you gotta get at the rightdirection like lock it in placeyep bring it forward and then just turnit onto number one[Applause]we’re gonna put in a half teaspoon ofsalt 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda hey whyis it be baking because that’s just whatit’s called and then we’re gonna put inwhy do they have a spoons of cinnamonthere’s a half okay but that wouldn’t weneed one more that’s a whole teaspoonlooks like we’re gonna have to putcinnamon on our store slip here justMike don’t get grabby here if theyremove four things now okay there you goand we’re gonna do three cups ofall-purpose flour[Music]so it is a pretty dry dough but I justkind of keep mixing until it starts tocome together and then I usually do usemy hands at the end to kind of pack itall together okay and that’s what thedough looks like when it’s all done itis a pretty stiff dough and very verytastyyou want a little tiny bite okay so Ijust rolled these out into a ballactually Maria is helping me too andthen I’m just gonna use the back of thisspatula just flatten them[Music]so these cookies were in at 350 degreesfor about eight to nine minutes and thenI did leave them on the hot pan foranother probably three minutes or so andthen I just made up a quick little glazehere this was one cup of powdered sugarjust a little splash of vanilla and thena tablespoon or so of milk just enoughso that it was kind of drippy and then Ijust drizzled it over the top these areso so good ORN I
