The Easiest Way To Make Delicious Bread

This is straight up a baking video, the best bread recipe I have come across for maximum flavour with minimum effort. I thought it could be helpful in the coming weeks and months at home. The full recipe is below!

I didn’t want to do a video about the virus because I think it has been really well covered elsewhere. I hope you and your family are all hunkered down and doing well. Wishing you all the best, and I’ll be back to my normal science videos next week.

—– Ingredients —–
– 3 cups (400g) of unbleached all purpose flour
(or 2 cups all purpose flour and 1 cup wholewheat flour)
– 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast
– 1 1/2 teaspoons of table salt
– 1 cup (240 ml) water
– 1 tablespoon of white vinegar
– 1/2 cup (120ml) mild lager

—– Instructions —–
– Mix dry ingredients, then add everything else and fold together. Let sit for 8 to 18 hours at room temp in sealed bowl.
– Knead dough 15 times, pull edges into middle to form a ball and flip seam side down.
– Line same bowl with oiled parchment paper, put dough on it and lid on for 2 hours.
– About 30 mins before baking, heat up a Dutch oven in oven to 500F (260C). Lightly flour top of bread and with sharp knife make two slits in the top.
– Carefully transfer dough to pot and reduce oven to 425F (220C) and bake covered for 30mins, then remove lid and bake for a few more minutes (5-10mins) until brown.

okay I’m gonna show you the best breadrecipe in the worldhiving that gives you the maximum flavorfor the least amount of effort this is avariation on the no need method and it’sbasically about ten minutes work spreadover 20 hours I thought this would beuseful if you’re like stuck in the housefor some reason for a while and alsobaking your own bread is so usefulbecause you can turn all of these as rawingredients into amazing delicious breadsaves you having to go out to the shopsto buy bread which won’t be as good oras tasty is the thing we’re gonna makeso here’s what we’re gonna use we’regoing to use a Dutch oven to do thebaking and stainless steel bowl to dothe mixing the ingredients are threecups of unbleached all-purpose flour orif you want you can substitute one ofthose cups of flour with a cup of wholewheat flour 1/4 of a teaspoon of instantyeast one and a half teaspoons of tablesalt a cup of water and the secret tothis recipe is using vinegar and beer togive it that fermented sourdough kind offlavor so we’ll use 1 tablespoon ofwhite vinegar and then 1/2 a cup ofcheap lager it doesn’t need to beanything special so I’m using MillerHigh Life the champagne of self-delusionand you don’t want to be that’s too darkor too flavorful so cheap like anythingcoking is good whatever you’ve gotaround okay let’s get started we’regonna save and mix the dry ingredientsand then pour in the liquids now themixing is super easy we don’t need to bevery thorough because we’ll be leavingit for 8 to 18 hours to rest which meansthe flour has loads of time to absorball of the moisture this is good to doin the evening and leave overnight or inthe before times when we used to go towork you could mix this in the morningand then bake it in the evening so justgive it a quick stir like I’m doing hereand bring it together with your handsyou’re aiming for a kind of shaggy balllike consistency like we can see herethen you want to cover it this bowl is ahandy lid we can also use cling film orsaran wrap now it’s good to put itsomewhere nice and warm to activate theyeast like an airing cupboard near aradiator or like I’m doing here in alove warms just a slightly above roomtemperature okay after the long restingtime we’re gonna take the dough out washthe bowl and give the dough a little bitof kneading they said that this wasbased on the no need method but youactually want to do a little bit ofkneading we don’t really need too muchjust enough to even out the dough andform a bull a bull is just a fancybaking term for a ball and you make itby pulling four corners into the middleof the dough flip it over and do thiskind of twisting motion to pull it intoa ball shape it helps here if the baseis a little bit tacky so the interior ofthe dough kind of winds up with sometension then put it back in the mixingbowl on top of a sheet of bakingparchment we’ll leave this to prove foranother two hours and for the last halfan hour we need to preheat our oven putthe Dutch oven in your normal oven andwhack it up to the highest setting whichfor me was 500 Fahrenheit who aren’t ourDutch oven to have enough time to absorbas much heat as possible just before webake the dough we want to sprinkle alittle bit of flour on top and thenscore the top with a sharp knife thentake the steaming hot Dutch oven out ofthe main open and carefully transfer thedough into it put the lid back on andthen put them in the oven but reduce thetemperature to 425 Fahrenheit and bakefor exactly thirty minutes when that’sdone leave it in the oven but take thelid off and bake for another five to tenminutes to get the top of the bread niceand brown and crispy and then yourlovely loaf of bread is done doesn’tthat look goodand there we have it our freshly bakedloaf of bread and they taste absolutelyamazing which I’m sure you agree if youmake it and if you do go and make oneplease send me a photo I’d love to seewhat they look like you can share themon Instagram or Twitter and let Dominicone minute both of those and yeah takecare of yourselves out there and I’ll beback to making my normal science videosagain next week all right bye[Music]you
