hi there and welcome back my name isbina if you’re new here I’ll give youpractical tips for a simple life helpyou keep more of your money andencourage your spirit now today in thisvideo I’m going to be sharing with youhow I make starter for my bread also inthis video I’m going to show you asecret about my starter emergency fundhere I’m just showing you what kind offlour I use it’s the King Arthurunbleached all-purpose flour I feel likeit makes the best-tasting bread but youcan use any brand it just needs to beunbleached well it’s not an exactmeasurement I use one part flour in onepart filtered water we have a Berkeyfilter or you can use bottled water itjust mix it up until it’s about theconsistency I mean cake batter it comesout here about a quarter of a cup for usbut there was the metric measurement foryou as well now I’m just going to coverit in a damp cloth and put it up on ahigh shelf where it’s pretty warm in thehouse up there on the second day it kindof looks like this there doesn’t seem tobe much increased though we do see somebubbles in there mostly just the clearliquid on the top which I’m just goingto stir right back in there that isnatural and then after I stir it all upI am gonna put that damp cloth on thetop again and put it back up there aboutthe same height as my refrigerator yousee that’s a good point in the house toput it up to okay so let’s see how itlooks on day three we do see a lot morebubbles in there a lot more activereleased and I see this I go ahead and Ifeed it it looks like there’s a lot ofyeast action going on and I feed it on aday when it’s doing that so I’m going tostir that clear liquid back in therefirst and then I’m going to feed it anamount that is about equal to one thirdof the amount of starter I put too muchthis time so I’m going to give it alittle bit more filtered water cover itback up with that damp cloth and put itback up there about the heights of myrefrigeratorso the next morning on day 4 here’s whatwe have I feel like I might have put alittle too much water in the day beforebut regardless I’m gonna stir that rightback in there I’m gonna feed it to todaybecause the important thing today is itis smelling it’s almost like fresh bakedbread before it’s even bait so that’swhat I’m looking for is the bubbles alittle bit of an increase but the smellis also very importantand you can see somebody else in thefamily that can smell it very good -about day four or five and here he ishelping mom out but it could be as muchas eight to ten days before it reachesthis point depending on the weather thetemperature in your house oh wait didyou catch that let’s go back in rightthere is my starter emergency fun littlesneak preview okay now here we are todayabout five and a half is gonna say sixbut really I just waited too late in theday and look at how this starter hasincreased it is super ready again theglass helps you see the bubbles at veryactive yeast ready to go into some breadthis amount of starter is going to beample to do a loaf of bread and put somein my refrigerator for throughout theweek until next week when I need anotherloaf about that portion I keep in myrefrigerator it doesn’t take much tolike a little leaven leavens the wholelump the Bible says though just need alittle bit so I put a very smallcontainer it’s probably I probably keeplike a quarter cup to half a cup abouttwice a week maybe three times a weekand just stir it so I put a littlecontainer a nice good seal on that keepit in my refrigerator and then aboutonce a week I’ll feed it and if I haveabout 1/2 a cup I’m only gonna feed itabout 1 teaspoon flour and just stir itup real good in there and that’s ituntil I get to the point where I’m gonnamix it into some dough to make bread ormy dough balls that I have another videoon finally I’ll be showing you how Imake it a starter emergency fund that iswhenever I accidentally use up all mystarter how do I go on and make morebread I’ll begin with some parchmentpaper any brands fine just roll it outhere and oh don’t you just love it whenit keeps curling back up back so I willjust flip it upside down but that’s allI’m gonna do now you see this starterhas really increased I’m gonna poke outsome of the air from it and you’ll justsee it collapse it’s a very activestarter so this is a really great one topreserve I’m just gonna put it on thatparchment paper and spread it thin it’sgonna take several days to dry out maybeeven 10 days well you could probably usea dehydrator but I’m just gonna air dryit and on this parchment paper spread itreal thin and when it dries up it’lljust crack to pieces and then I’ll justbegin as I walk by and I see the edgesare dried and just broken off I putthose in a little container like thiswith a lid just chip them up and putthem in there when I get ready to use itif I need to resort to this in my pantryall I do is just add some water and soakit a few days and then it will bereactivated I wanted to mention theconstruction in the background I’veshown that to you in a couple of othervideos as well and this is the progressas of today as you can see all thesheetrock work has been done the
