this pull-apart monkey bread is fun to make, looks beautiful and tastes awesome! home made bread filled with chocolatey goodness! this bread can be stored at room temperature. just warm it up for about 30s when you serve it later. include the little ones in this fun recipe. give it a try!
– 1/2 cup warm water
– 1/2 cup warm milk
– 1 tsp sugar
– 8g active dry yeast
– 3.5 cups bread flour
– 1/4 cup melted butter
– 1/2 cup sugar
– 1/2 tsp salt
– yeast mix
1/2 cup nutella (warmed)
1 egg for egg wash
1. mix ingredients for yeast mix. set aside.
2. in a large mixing bowl add flour, melted butter, sugar, salt & yeast mix.
mix on medium speed until a soft dough is formed.
knead slightly, transfer to a greased bowl. let it rise for 1.5-2 hours
knead again. divide into 4 parts.
roll out each to a little over 9″.
3. transfer first rolled dough to baking tray lined with parchment paper.
spread some warm nutella until the edge.
cover with second round of dough.
keep alternating with dough and nutella until you have 4 layers of dough
and 3 layers of nutella.
cut out extra dough outside of the 9″.
keep a smaller circle (glass or bowl) and cut the dough into 16 equal strips.
grab 2 adjacent strips and twist them twice, away from each other.
pinch the ends so they don’t open up during baking.
4. cover and rest for 30 mins.
5. apply egg wash and bake at 350 F for 25 mins.
brush melted butter when it comes out of the oven.
6. serve warm.
