My Nana’s tried and true bread recipe! This bread is perfect for sandwiches, toast, or simply with butter and honey.
FULL RECIPE:
Put in a small bowl:
1/4 cup warm water
1 package or 1 tbsp yeast
1/2 tsp honey or white sugar
Mix in a large bowl:
2 cups warm water
1 tbsp salt
2 tbsp honey or white sugar
3 tbsp oil
Mix all ingredients together in the large bowl. Add one cup of white or whole wheat flour at a time (you will use anywhere from 6-8 cups of flour total). Knead the dough first with a spoon then with your hands until its smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in an oiled bowl. Cover, and let it rise in a warm place until it’s doubled in size.
After the dough has risen, punch it down, and split the dough into two. Shape each piece of dough into a loaf and place in well-oiled bread pans.
Cover, and let the loaves rise again in a warm place until they’ve doubled in size.
Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes.
Enjoy!
